quarantine - up up and away

Over these days of Coronavirus emergency, the Italian government has adopted a series of measures in order to contain the pandemic. Citizens have been requested to stay home and leave their houses only for urgent rea- sons. Suddenly people in Rome found themselves stuck within four walls: families share few square meters apartments, young couples stay in studio-apartments, children are deprived of their outdoor activities, the luckiest ones can look out of their balconies. So the condominiums’ terraces all over the city filled with people. Romani started using those shared spaces on the rooftops, which are usually ignored except for hanging the wash out to dry. In some apartment blocks they have even organized a schedule of turns and times to avoid overcrowding the terraces and abide by the right social distancing rules to prevent contagion.
